Seminar: Bruce Sterling

“Artisanal Electronics: Digital Repair Cultures” was a mini-conference we held at July 6.

Beyond the science and technology studies overview, the Novelist Bruce Sterling (Casa Jasmina, Torino) takes another approach in presenting some creative activities around left over electronics. He does so through the concrete examples of artefacts displayed at the electronic art festival in Torino (the Share festival). His contribution shows the political gestures of these art interventions and brings to light the set of regulations and risks that must be bypassed by makers and artist when they improve and refurb digital devices.
